What to Expect in Therapy

Beginning therapy can feel like a meaningful step, and it is also normal to feel unsure about what the process will look like.

At Saleema Therapy, sessions are designed to be calm, reflective, and respectful of your values and experiences. Many of the women I work with come to therapy while still managing their responsibilities well, yet feeling the quiet strain of anxiety, overthinking, or emotional exhaustion.

Therapy offers a space where you can slow down, think clearly, and explore what has been weighing on your mind without pressure or judgment.

The First Session

Your first session is primarily a conversation.

We spend time understanding your life, your responsibilities, and what has been feeling most difficult recently. You are welcome to share as much or as little as feels comfortable.

Many women begin therapy because they feel overwhelmed by expectations, caught in cycles of overthinking, or unsure how to carry their responsibilities in a sustainable way.

The first session helps us begin understanding these patterns together.

What Therapy Focuses On

Therapy often focuses on understanding both your inner experiences and the pressures you may be carrying in your daily life.

Depending on your needs, our work may include:

  • Understanding patterns of anxiety and overthinking

  • Exploring how perfectionism develops and how it affects your well-being

  • Learning ways to calm a constantly active mind

  • Strengthening emotional regulation and resilience

  • Reconnecting with your values and intentions so your efforts feel purposeful rather than pressured

Sessions are collaborative, meaning we work together to explore what feels most important for you.

Faith and Therapy

Faith is an important part of many clients’ lives.

Faith-informed therapy simply means that your beliefs, spiritual questions, and values are respected and welcomed within the therapeutic space.

You do not need to present yourself as perfectly practicing. Therapy is a place to reflect honestly on your experiences while honouring the faith and principles that guide your life.

Practical Details

Sessions are conducted virtually and are available for clients across Ontario.

Online therapy allows you to access support from the privacy of your home while maintaining a consistent and confidential therapeutic space.

Appointments are typically scheduled on a weekly or bi-weekly basis depending on your needs, goals, and capacity.

If you are looking for a thoughtful and faith-informed space to begin, you are welcome to take the next step.
